A |     Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, is set for release in theaters tomorrow. While the film has been amongst the talks, some individuals have expressed concerns about the level of violence shown. Also, there has been a lot of negative sentiment surrounding the film before its release. In response to this, Aditya Dhar's wife, actress Yami Gautam, has publicly addressed the ongoing trend of paid PR.           On her Instagram, Yami wrote a detailed note describing the paid PR trend as "a plague that will affect the future." She started with, “There is something I’ve been wanting to express for a really long time. I feel today is that day, & I must. This so-called trend of giving money, in the disguise of marketing a film, to ensure good ‘hype’ for a film is created, or else ‘they’ will continuously write negative things (even before the film is released), until you pay ‘them’ money, feels nothing but kind of extortion. Just because this arrangement is accessible to anyone, whether to ‘hype’ a film or spread negativity against another actor/a film, is a plague that is going to affect the future of our industry in a big way.”                                                                 View this post on Instagram          A post shared by Yami Gautam Dhar (@yamigautam)               She further added, “Unfortunately, if anyone feels it’s harmless & let’s do it because it’s the new ‘normal,’ they are mistaken. This monster of a ‘trend’ is eventually going to bite everyone. If the truth is exposed about a million things under the garb of who & what ‘success’ is over the past 5 years especially, unfortunately, it’s not going to be a pretty picture for many. In South, no one can dare do such things because the industry stands united on a lot of fronts. Also being the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Pawan filed a personality rights suit in the Delhi High Court. He alleged that various platforms and e-commerce sites on social media have been using his name, photos and identity without his permission for commercial use.          The Delhi High Court responds…     Misuse of identity on social media platforms has become a menace to the celebs. Pawan Kalyan felt the need and right to control his name and identity, and the exploitation of his personality rights. After he filed a suit, the Delhi High Court responded positively. Acknowledging his right to control his name against unauthorized use of apps, merchandise, it had asked Pawan to submit details of the infringing links within two days. Intermediaries have also been instructed to take necessary action within a week. The next hearing on the case is scheduled on December 22. Such rights under Article 19 (Freedom of Speech/Expression) and Article 21 (Right to Life/Dignity) of the Indian Constitution protects and establishes individual identity as valuable property and links them to Privacy & Free Speech. It further boosts celeb publicity rights as protection against misuse.          Several celebs followed suit     Pawan Kalyan is one of the biggest stars in Tollywood. Apart from being a politician, his flexis, cutouts, standees and photos are being used in various online platforms for commercial purposes. His team has brought this to the actor’s notice, recently. Pawan responded by filing a suit in the Delhi High Court. After Amitabh Bachchan's personality rights cases in 2022, several celebs including Chiranjeevi, Anil Kapoor, Jr NTR among many have followed suit.
